The Board of Governors of St Columb’s College invites applications to the following posts:


Full-time Permanent Posts (required for September 2024)

Post 1 – Head of Biology
Post 2 - Teacher of Digital Technology to A-level (with the ability to teach a second subject)
Post 3 – Teacher of English to A-level
Post 4 - Teacher of Geography to A-level


Full-time Temporary Post - Maternity Cover (required initially for Sept – Dec 2024)

Post 5 – Teacher of Health and Social Care to A-level and KS3 Home Economics

 

Post 1 – Head of Biology

The Governors seek to appoint a suitably qualified, experienced and enthusiastic teacher to lead and manage the above curriculum and whole-school area.  The successful candidate must be able to motivate and work well with pupils and staff and demonstrate the commitment and ability to enhance the curriculum area within the school.  This post to be paid at the second level of teaching allowance.

Essential Criteria (Post 1):

  • Qualified Teacher, registered with the GTCNI and recognised by the Department of Education to teach at second level;
  • Honours Degree (minimum 2:2) or equivalent in the required subject(s) or Bachelor of Education Degree with the required subject(s) as the main component;
  • Five years’ experience in teaching Biology at second level which should have included the teaching of a full GCSE programme and two years’ experience teaching the subject to A-level or equivalent.

Essential Criteria (Teaching Posts 2 to 5):

  • Qualified Teacher, registered with the GTCNI and recognised by the Department of Education to teach at second level;
  • Honours Degree or equivalent in the required subject(s) or Bachelor of Education Degree with the required subject(s) as the main component.
  • (For Teaching post 5 only) Honours Degree or equivalent in a subject related to Health and Social Care or Bachelor of Education Degree with a subject related to Health and Social Care as the main component.

Desirable Criteria (All Teaching Posts - unless otherwise specified):

Preference may be given to applicants who:

  • Have a higher classification of degree (or equivalent qualification) in the required subject(s);
  • Have a minimum of one year’s teaching experience in the delivery of the subject(s) at Key Stage 3/GCSE-level (Posts 2 to7);
  • Have a minimum of one year’s teaching experience in the delivery of the subject(s) at A-level (Posts 2 to 6);
  • Are able to teach another subject of the school’s curriculum;
  • Have competence in the use of ICT in the teaching of the subject(s).

The Board of Governors seek to appoint individuals who are able and willing to contribute to the Catholic ethos of the College and who will enrich the experiences of the pupils through participation in extra-curricular activities.
