Transport

When travelling to and from St Columb’s you are expected to wear your uniform and to be neat in your general appearance.  If you are using public transport you should be mannerly and courteous to others at all times.

It is essential that you are well behaved on the buses. Sit on your seat at all times and refrain from any type of inappropriate behaviour.

If you travel by bus you should make your way to the bus bays at the end of the school day.  For the first while Year 8 students will be allowed out of class early so that they can get used to the bus bays and getting on to their bus.

Bus bays will be clearly labelled.

If you stay on in school to attend an extra-curricular activity, there is a late bus that leaves for the Foyle Street Depot each day at 4.45 p.m.

If, for any reason, you miss the bus home after school, you must never attempt to make your own way home. Report to one of the teachers on bus duty or report to Reception.

Translink have also provided the following useful information for you:

Passes or tickets must be shown to the driver or cash paid on boarding.

From 8.40 a.m. to 9.00 a.m. pupils are asked to use the school buses provided from the Foyle Street Depot and not to use the FY12 Slievemore buses.

Buses leaving the Foyle Street Depot will await the arrival of buses from the Dungiven/Limavady direction as required although these are scheduled to be arriving at the bus station by approximately 8.40 a.m.

Buses will depart at 8.50 a.m. sharp when all ‘country’ buses have arrived.

Pupils are expected to use dedicated school buses where they are provided to prevent overloading problems on passenger service buses (for example Strathfoyle, Eglinton, Strabane should all use their dedicated bus where requested).

In the early days for new pupils, don’t be afraid to ask for help from any of the Inspectors around Foyle Street for their buses.
