St Columb's College Year 8 Induction 2016

September, 2016 St Columb's College

I’m unhappy?

Saint Columb

It is very important that you enjoy school.  This is because when people enjoy their activities they get far more out of them!  It may seem a little daunting to be coming to a new school, especially one which is as big as St Columb’s.

Often people refer to St Columb’s as being like one big family.  This is because people genuinely feel cared for here, from pupils in Year 8 to pupils in Year 14, and not forgetting the staff themselves.

However, there are times when we are all less happy than usual!

If this happens, please tell someone.

You can speak to your Form Tutor or our School Counsellor Ms Tina Power (Ms Byrne will arrange this for you). If you feel happier talking to another member of staff that’s fine too.

There are also other important members of staff who are there to help you:

• Mr B Keys is the Vice Principal responsible for the Pastoral Care in the school.

• Mrs ML O’Kane (Rm 33), Mrs AL Kirby (Rm 2), Mrs N Barr (Rm 45), Mr M McLaughlin (PE Department), Mr M McIlveen (Rm 46) and Mr B Keys (Vice Principal's Office) are our Child Protection Officers.

Remember, you can speak to any member of staff.  If you don’t want to speak to staff yourself, then you could ask a parent/guardian to phone us for a chat.

Please don’t feel that your concerns don’t matter - they do!  We will help in whatever way we can - just come and talk to us.
