Mobile phones

If at all possible we would prefer you not to bring mobile phones to school; however we understand that some parents may wish their sons to have a phone in case of an emergency on the way to or from school.

The growing misuse of mobile phones and, in particular, the inappropriate use of camera phones is giving increasing cause for concern.

If you do decide to bring a phone to school, you must abide by the following guidelines

  • Mobile phones must be switched off at all times when you are in the school buildings or the school grounds;
  • You should ensure that your mobile phone is passcode protected;
  • You must never use your phone to take photographs or video in the school or on a school bus;
  • Mobile phones are not allowed in the exam room for examinations;

Any pupil found to be using his mobile phone will have it confiscated for the duration of that school day. If it is being confiscated for the first time, the phone can be retrieved at 3.30pm on the same day from the Year Heads' Office on production of a Smartcard. If a pupil is having his mobile phone confiscated for a second time, his parents will have to come to the school to collect the phone.

We would ask your parents to ring the school on 028 71285000 if they need to contact you during the day and not to ring or text you on your mobile.

The school does not accept responsibility for the loss or theft of mobile phones.
