In St Columb’s you will study many subjects. Each night you will be given a number of homeworks. These are designed to help you understand the work which you have covered in class during the day.
Your subject teachers will explain your homeworks to you. It is your job to make sure that you record your homeworks accurately in your Year 8 Planner.
Your homeworks will also help you extend your knowledge and allow you to identify any areas which you may not have understood during the day.
For these reasons, it is essential that you complete all of the homeworks that you are given! Your Tutor will also give you advice on how to study effectively at home.
If you have a problem with your homework, ask your subject teacher!
In St Columb’s we expect you to do your best in all aspects of school life and homeworks are no different!
You are expected to spend a reasonable amount of time on homework and private study each evening. The recommended minimum homework time for a Year 8 student is 1 hour 30 minutes. When you have finished your homework, any remaining time should be devoted to personal study or revision.
We also have a Homework Club which takes place in Room 30 from 3.30 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. Mondays to Thursdays.
